The Arts and Science College was inaugurated on 20 June 1960 by Shri Y. B. Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra to serve the ever-growing educational needs of student from North and Central Mumbai Suburbs, and was the gift of the South Indians in Mumbai to the then newly-born State of Maharashtra. The Commerce Stream at the Degree level was started in 1980-81. Affiliated to the University of Mumbai, the college has an impressive strength of over 4,000 students drawn from all sections of this cosmopolitan city.

2. Economics Association is organizing “Arth Aarohan 2010”, an intercollegiate extravaganza of events which will be held on 12-01-2010.
3. One day Workshop on Revised Syllabus of TYBA Economics Paper-IX is being organized on 14-01-2010 jointly by Board of Studies in Economics and Dept. of Economics.
4. Sports day will be celebrated on 18-01-2010 at St. Xavier Sports Complex, Parel.
5. A three day exhibition / poster presentation with the theme "Maharashtra : Gaathaa Samruddha Paramparechi" will be held on 22nd, 23rd and 24th January 2010. The inauguration of the exhibition will be held on 21st January 2010 at 5:00pm.

6. Prof. Rajalaxmi Amudan (Dept. of Bio-Technology) is selected as one of the best teachers at the Teacher Training Programme 2009 and subsequently sponsored short term training course at ACTREC, Navi Mumbai.
7. Dept of Computer Science organized a workshop on “Internet : It’s role in academics” on 24-12-2009.
8. One day Workshop on Revised Syllabus of FYBA English-Communication skills was organized on 02-01-2010 jointly by Board of Studies in English and Dept. of English.
9. Mrs. Leela Subramanian from Statistics Department is awarded “Teacher’s Excellence Award" for her invaluable contribution to the Education of Young Indians by Rotary Club of Mumbai, Sion on 10th September 2009.
10. The College is proud to announce that:
 
  • Ms. Srividya Iyer secured the 2nd rank at the TYBSc-IT university examination held in April 2009.
  • Ms. Kimberely Pereira secured the 7th rank at the TYBSc university examination held in April 2009. She was a student of Statistics.
  • Mr. Bhat Atmaj Kumar is selected for NDA and secured the 4th place in the National Merit List.
11. Seven day Special Residential Camp will be held from 15th -21st of Dec ‘09 under the banner NSS at Manori, Marve Beach, Malad(W).
12. Our College Students won Prizes at the Zonal Level Competitions as well as in the final round at the 42nd Youth Fest -09 organized by University of Mumbai.
13. French Certificate course will be commencing from June 2010, Registration is on and open for ALL!!!
