In the year 2008 – 2009 the Committee has forwarded to the University Grant Commission (UGC) proposals for Seven minor research projects, Instrumentation Maintenance Facility (IMF) and Jubilee grant for the College Library.

- 07 – Applied to the UGC for grants for Minor Research Projects

Staff Members are motivated to take up research activities. So far 11 Minor Research Projects are submitted to the UGC for funding.

Accordingly a Research Advisory Committee has been formed and is functional, the details of which are already listed in the Criterion Inputs. Faculty is motivated to take up research projects under various schemes especially University and University Grants Commission minor and major research projects. Two UGC Minor research projects and Eight University Research Projects are complete. Eleven UGC minor research projects are awaiting approval.

Besides the regular teaching assignments our teaching staff is also working on various research activities both at the University level as well as National and International levels. Some of them are as follows:

| UGC FUNDED MINOR RESEARCH PROJECTS:

- Dr. Leena Rao completed the project titled “Development of Solid Acid Catalysts” in July 2007.
- Dr. Rashmi Bhure completed the project titled “Victim of Terrorism to Partners in Peace: The Role of Youth in Kashmir” during 2006 – 2008.

| UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI FUNDED MINOR RESEARCH PROJECTS:

- Ms. Pradnya Khandeparkar and Ms. Leela Subramanian completed the project titled “ Life Style of Senior Citizens in Mumbai – Their Problems & Remedies”.
|
- Mr. Shekar Aiyar completed the project titled “To Study Complexing Behaviour of a Schiff’s Base”.
|
- Mr. M. R. Bhatia, Dr. Smita Durve, Ms. Jayanthi Ramamurthy, Mr. K. Balakrishnan, Mr. George Abraham, Dr. Manju Phadke and Dr. Anita D’souza completed the Interdisciplinary project titled “Comparative Analysis of Mangrove Water around Mumbai”.

- Mr. T.Venkataramu, Mr. Vinod Menon, Mr.Kiran Nabar and Ms. Pratibha Pai completed the project titled “Job opportunities for Physics graduates”.

- Ms. Vanita Banjan completed the project titled “Bangladeshi Migrants in Mumbai for 2007 - 2008”.

- Dr. Tara Menon completed the project titled “Studies on siderophore production and their effect on plant growth”.

- Ms. Deepali Kothekar completed two projects titled “Effect Of Bacterial Phospholipase C on Erythrocyte Membranes” and “Purification of Phosphatidylinositol - Specific Phospholipase C from S.Aureus”.
